FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What if I have to cancel my appointment?

We understand sometimes that unforeseen circumstances result in cancelled appointments. We would request however that you let us know as soon as possible, and ideally with at least 24 hours notice. A fee may be charged if an appointment is broken or cancelled without 24 hours notice.

I’m really scared of the dentist, what should I do?

Please don’t let dental anxiety put you off visiting the dentist. Tell us when you make your appointment that you are nervous and we will try and help you to cope with the treatment. If you are unable to have treatment normally due to nerves, we also offer sedation.

I have just moved to Jersey or I am currently registered with another dentist, is there anything I need to do to transfer my file history to you?

While file history can sometimes be useful, we generally like to make a full assessment of your current dental needs ourselves, and develop a plan of action for you going forward from there. If we feel we require further information we will ask for your permission to obtain your previous dental records.

What if I need Emergency Treatment?

Contact our surgery immediately and we will endeavour to schedule you in for urgent treatment. If your emergency is out of normal working hours, please contact 07797 745862

*Please note, there will be a charge for call out and treatment.

Am I a suitable candidate for Dental Implants?

If you are in overall good oral health, implants are usually possible. A full assessment will be made and if implants are unsuitable for you, we will help you understand the available alternatives.

What should I do if I have a complaint?

If you wish to make a complaint about the service provided by La Retraite Jersey Dental Care please contact us, preferably in writing, to raise the issue and we will do everything we can to ensure the situation is resolved to your satisfaction.

Will I be able to drive following treatment?

Under routine care, our treatments will not affect your ability to drive. However, if you require sedation you will feel unsteady for some time following treatment and should not drive home.

I am nervous about needles, is there an alternative?

Where local anesthesia is required, a needle is the only option but our painless injection technique reduces the stinging sensation and ensures that the procedure is more comfortable.

Is the painless injection truly painless?

The painless injection technique uses the very latest computer-aided technology to deliver the required anesthetic at much slower rates. This combined with prior application of local anesthetic cream means that whilst you may feel a small scratch, the rest is relatively pain-free.
